Fr. Christos Kanakis
Father Christos Kanakis was born in San Francisco California on February 3, 1984 and grew up attending his home parish, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco, California, where he was inspired to follow the calling of the priesthood by Father Anthony Kosturos of blessed memory. After receiving his bachelors degree in Philosophy and Religion at San Francisco State University in 2006, he graduated from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, in Boston, Massachusetts, and received his Masters of Divinity in 2009. Fr. Christos met Presvytera Jessica (Demetra), from Sacramento, at Holy Cross while she studied Elementary Education and Human Development for her undergraduate studies. Fr. Christos & Pres. Jessica were married on August 23, 2009, and came to Pasadena in September as Fr. Christos was assigned by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos to begin as the Pastortal Assistant at Saint Anthony. On June 6, 2010, Fr. Christos was ordained to the Diaconate by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos in the parish where he was raised in, Holy Trinity in San Francisco, to serve Saint Anthony in Pasadena as a Deacon until he was ordained to the Priesthood at Saint Anthony on January 16, 2011. Father and Presvytera have a beautiful baby girl, Garifalia Evdoxia “Grace” who was born on October 10, 2011.
